By incorporating trace amounts of the rare earth element Scandium (Sc) into traditional aluminum alloy welding wires (such as the 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx series), this material achieves a fundamental enhancement in welding performance, joint strength, corrosion resistance, and crack resistance. Notably, the welding coefficient is significantly boosted to the 0.75–0.85 range.
It is widely applied in the welding of aluminum structures for aerospace, marine structures, offshore platforms, cryogenic vessels, and transportation equipment, making it particularly suitable for high-end manufacturing sectors with stringent reliability requirements.
